The Shanghai Composite Index, which tracks the bigger of China’s stock exchanges, rose 29.66 points, or 1.1 percent, to 2,730.04. The CSI 300 Index (SHSZ300) gained 1.5 percent to 2,993.56.
Cement makers: Anhui Conch Cement Co. (600585 CH), China’s biggest cement maker, jumped 9 percent to 38.24 yuan, the biggest gain since July 28. BBMG Corp. (601992 CH) jumped the 10 percent daily limit to 13.22 yuan.
Chinese cement stocks have “fully” priced in the “pessimistic expectations” about the industry and recent declines provide a buying opportunity, according to China International Capital Corp. A summer power shortage will boost prices by straining supplies, while the “large-scale” construction of affordable housing and water conservancy projects starting in September will also bolster demand, Luo Wei and Guan Xue, analysts at CICC, wrote in a report today.

Cityscape Jeddah builds on success
A number of prominent real estate developers and projects have been recognised for their contributions to Saudi Arabia’s burgeoning real estate industry, at the Cityscape Jeddah awards 2011.
Among the winners announced on June 11, were Sumou Real Estate Development Company for Bawabat Makkah, which won best urban design and master planning; Rayadah Investment Company’s Vertical Medina, best residential project award; Al Marina, best waterfront development by Injaz Development Company; and Emaar ME’s Jeddah Gate, best commercial, office and retail project.
“The development of the project will be done in stages during the next 15 years and Cityscape is an important platform for us to connect with the various real estate expert and developers who will work on the project, as well as providing us with the opportunity to showcase our future plans and projects,” said Bawabat Makkah CEO Eng. Essam Kalthoum.
