KPMG survey upbeat about Philadelphia-area businesses
Almost three-quarters of Philadelphia-area board members and business leaders expect profits to increase this year compared to 2010, according to a survey by the Audit Committee Institute (ACI) of accounting giant KPMG .
During a roundtable meeting hosted by the ACI and attended by nearly 80 board directors and business leaders from Philadelphia-area companies, 17 percent of those surveyed expect profits to increase significantly and another 55 percent said they expect profits to increase moderately. Just 12 percent expect a profit decrease and 16 percent said profits would remain about the same.
KPMG said these figures mirror upbeat profit projections found in the ACI survey of area business leaders taken last November when 15 percent of area business leaders projected significant profit increases for 2011 while 58 percent said profits would increase moderately, 16 percent said profits would decrease and 11 percent said profits would remain about the same.
KPMG Philadelphia Managing Partner Jerry Maginnis, who moderated the panel discussion, said the feedback is good news for the region.
